Our Community
All Schools, NGOs, individuals, organizations, and volunteers working in the Himalaya
Himalaya Net is a village community development supporter. We integrate preservation and progress. Our community began in the villages around the Annapurna Circuit.
In Sarangkot and Kaskikot, our first areas, we have more than twenty schools and NGOs and most are in need of help and support for the preservation of their human heritage.
Our network solution, with a predicted range of twenty eight kilometers from each wireless base station, can reach them all. With small competitively priced Satellite base stations**, our solution is planned for another eight suitable locations, in terms of geographic, economic, and social fit.
In all eight locations we will reach large numbers of otherwise completely isolated Himalaya people. Although the terrain in these areas is a typically harsh Himalayan landscape, it is densely populated.
Our first community connection was to the Shree Jana Jagriti Higher Secondary School. The Sarangkot plan is almost complete and the Kaskikot Network plan is beginning. The Sarangkot Model : Network plan. We are now upgrading our equipment firmware and installing an RF amplifier*** at base 1.
Until now any type of net-connection has been beyond imagination for organizations and individuals in these areas. We are working to use simple consumer grade technology to deliver both affordable, and community Internet solutions to these people for the very first time.
** Satellite space into Nepal is currently at 2000% of the developed nation price even though the data is carried on the same satellites. We are currently seeking an understanding of the justification for this anomaly.
*** These are responsible antenna amplifiers that operate within the IEEE spec, and given local terrain and any foreseeable channel congestion in this area of the Himalayas.
