Get Connected
If you can see our wireless signal SSID "Join-up@www.himalaya.net.np" in the wireless section of your Windows PC, and the signal strength is greater than "Very Low", then you can apply to become a Himalaya Net member. Himalaya Net members have full access to our wireless LAN and therefore to our Shared Internet Connection and super fast Proxy Service.
Our network has been established since November 2006. This member facility is permanent. It is connected 24-hours per day*. Members have commented to us that the speed of the network is very much faster than dial-up, and that it functions much more reliably than dial-up.
If your computer has wireless capability you can scan for our signal. To scan for our signal from your Windows XP® computer:
- Go to "My Network Places"
- click "View Network Connections"
- click "Wireless Network Connection"
You will not be able to connect if you are not a member as the signal is secured using multiple protocols.
To become a member you will need to know the MAC address of your PC. Then complete the form below and press "submit" and we will contact you by email shortly.
To obtain your MAC address on a Windows XP® computer:
- Click "Start" then "Run"
- Type "command" on the "Open" dialog box then click "OK".
- When the black command window appears type "ipconfig/all " and press "enter"
- Look for "Ethernet Adapter Wireless Network Connection" section.
- Copy the "Physical Address" and paste it into our form below.
All users, tourists especially, should note that a membership takes 48-hours to activate.
